ABDULLAH PASTI SERAH KUASA?

Kalau esok Abdullah mahu tubuhkan kerajaan perpaduan bersama-sama PKR, lakukanlah segera.

Jika esok Abdullah mahu singkirkan Datuk Seri Mohd.

Tapi awas. UMNO bukan milik Abdullah. Kerajaan Malaysia juga bukan milik penasihat-penasihat Abdullah. Hakikatnya, UMNO milik ahli-ahlinya. Kerajaan Malaysia milik rakyat jelatanya. Jangan perkecil-kecilkan kuasa akar umbi UMNO dan jangan pula perlekehkan kuasa rakyat.

Apa pun, insaflah.

– Ruhanie Ahmad

Hi!

Dato Ron yang dihurmati!

Ke arah manakah nasib rakyat Malaysia? Ianya bagaikan kata pepatah Melayu: Naik ke darat dibaham harimau, terjun ke air dibaham buaya.

Demikiankah pepatah mengandai Najib dan Pak Lah?

Prof Yang,

I am of the same attitude as you are. But I have to write to keep my readers informed.

The next time you see me please call on my name aloud. Just kidding you. The truth is, some students regarded me as their unofficial tutors. I tried hard to avoid their persistent attempts to enlighten them with some backgrounds and opinions. But I failed. So I did what I could to assist them.

Anyway, how do i pass Perkasa's invitation to you for the 22nd gathering with TDM?

Salam takzim. Ron

Datuk Ron,

Maka insaflah.

Japan pledges a third round of spending to spur economy
By Bettina Wassener

it backs big stimulus

On the eve of a weekend meeting in Britain of finance officials from the Group of 20 nations, the Japanese government on Friday called for another round of public spending to aid its ailing economy.

The move puts Tokyo on the side of the United States and Britain in a dispute with Continental Europe, whose leaders are resisting calls for additional deficit spending to help pull the global economy out of its tailspin.

The U.S. and British governments have been pressing other nations to step up stimulus measures, while most European politicians say they have gone far enough, arguing that an overhaul of financial market regulation and a crackdown on tax havens are higher priorities.

The position of Japan, which is deeply in debt, had been unclear. But the renewed pledges Friday by Prime Minister Taro Aso and his finance minister for the third round of spending since last year put Japan squarely in the camp of the United States, sharpening a possible face-off with Europe when officials meet on Friday and Saturday.

Kaoru Yosano, the finance minister, said in Tokyo before leaving for the advance planning meeting of finance officials from rich countries and large developing nations that he hoped Japan would have its spending plan in place for the summit of G-20 leaders scheduled for April 2.

Yosano said he "intended to voice his strong approval" for the call by the U.S. Treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner, for nations to introduce fiscal stimulus measures equivalent to 2 percent of gross domestic product.

The dispute between Washington and European politicians highlights the continuing gap on a range of economic and strategic issues despite the broad popular appeal of President Barack Obama outside the United States. It suggests that underlying divisions and conflicting goals could prevent the G-20 summit from being the broad call to economic arms that was its original aim.

"The great gap that became apparent in the 1990s between European and American attitudes toward the conduct of international affairs remains as wide as ever," argued Robert Kagan, a conservative foreign policy strategist.

Moreover, some Europeans resent appeals from Washington for them to do more when they blame the United States for lax banking regulation and economic policy mistakes that sparked the current crisis.

"Meetings like these are intended to bring people together so that they can share experiences and learn from each other," said Holger Schmieding, chief European economist at Bank of America in London. "It's not helpful if instead of giving advice some people make demands."

Despite such fundamental differences across the Atlantic, experts saw several avenues of compromise.

One possibility would be to unite around a generally popular plan to vastly increase the International Monetary Fund's lending capability. That could offer more clout to emerging countries in international institutions while using the increased IMF cash to support the hard-hit countries of Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, Washington has indicated a willingness to go along with some of the tougher regulatory requirements favored by Europe as long as they remain a matter of coordinated national policies rather than the establishment of a global policeman for financial institutions.

But whether those compromises will release more cash from European government coffers remains in doubt. In France and Germany, officials argue that their higher welfare payments to the unemployed and other safety net measures that serve as "automatic stabilizers" should be taken into account when comparing the scale of fiscal stimulus packages.

Both sides in the dispute received support on Friday from Robert Zoellick, president of the World Bank.

"The recovery must be global and incrementalism will prolong and increase the risks," Zoellick told reporters in London in a comment that supported the case for greater stimulus. "U.S. consumption alone is not enough to rescue the world. We need a new model."

But Zoellick also said that "stimulus packages alone are not enough. Turnaround can't happen unless you clean up the bad assets and recapitalize the banks. If you don't take on the banking issue, stimulus is just like a sugar high."

In Japan, Aso's promises came as his popularity hit all-time lows, with national elections to be held this year. His Liberal Democratic Party risks losing power, and Japan's flailing economy is partly to blame.

Japan's economy, second in size only to that of the United States, slid into recession last year — contracting at a 12.1 percent annual rate during the last quarter of 2008, according to revised government statistics released in recent days. That is roughly double the plunge in both the United States and Europe over the same period.

The Japanese government has already announced spending programs worth more than ¥12 trillion, or $122 billion, and other steps to ease the financial squeeze that many companies there face. Other measures include purchases of commercial paper, a type of short-term corporate debt, by the central bank, as well as a decision, announced Friday, to inject ¥121 billion into three regional banks.

Still, many economists have criticized the government's policy action to date as inadequate and dominated by political posturing.

Gathering evidence over the past few weeks that the global slowdown is deeper and more protracted than initially feared has heightened the debate about whether governments should focus first on better regulation or emergency spending.

Several European governments, notably Germany, are wary of the swelling debt they are accumulating and favor a more cautious approach. They argue that the time is not yet ripe for more spending or tax cuts, and that the focus now should rather be on regulatory improvement.

analisa saya

implikasinya, sendiri mau ingat.

Semoga Allah selamatkan negara kita.

As'kum Dato',

1. I agree that Pak Lah has no choice but to pass over his leadership to DS Najib. As for Umno, the members have given the sound support to DS Najib and also endorsed Pak Lah's retirement. And with God's willing the handing over proses of Umno's new President will officially takes place during the coming Umno General Assembly.

2. However we must not forget that the appointment of Pak Lah as the PM was made by Agong, as him being the leader of the parties holding majoriy seats in parliment during the last March 2008 General Election. Though it is the prerogative of Agong to appoint new PM, but the Agong will not be able to simply appoint the new PM unless the present PM (Pak Lah)resigns or hand over his PM post.As it is now Pak Lah has never given any slightest indication on the exact date of the hand over.So it will either be a day, a week/weeks, or a month/months or years after Umno Assembly.Only Pak Lah knows when he is ready to hand over the post.

3. However Pak Lah knows that he will be under tremendous presure if he fails to fulfill his promise. In such a case Umno or BN will have no choice but to initiate the vote of no confidence against Pak Lah and it will eventually result in the splitting of Umno and BN. I am sure Pak Lah will not want to be remembered as a leader who ruined the Party. This unprecedented scenario I suppose, is not due to Pak Lah's wanting but the master mind of the "invicible Tingkat 4" advisers. For them, "perjuang belum selesai" and they will do anything to be remained in power.

4. So just like you and other ordinary citizen, I do pray the above tregedy will not happen and that there will be a smooth hand over of our new Premier.

Salam MSO,
