Dies Of Heart Attack In Chennai

NEW DELHI, April 4 (Bernama) -- Selangor State Executive Councillor Datuk K. Sivalingam died Wednesday after collapsing at the Chennai Airport upon arriving from Malaysia at about 9am.

The 59-year-old politician was rushed to a private nursing home in Chennai where he was pronounced dead at 10.40am (India Time) (1.10pm Malaysia time) due to a heart attack.

"He arrived this morning and collapsed at the airport. Family members rushed him to the nearest nursing home where he died," Chennai-based Malaysian High Commission official told Bernama, here Wednesday.

Sivalingam, his daughter and son-in-law, are believed to be on a vacation to south India."He was fine and chatting away on the plane. He suddenly complained of chest pain. We rushed him to the nearest hospital and that's it," said a family friend travelling with Sivalingam's family.

Malaysia Airlines will fly his body to Kuala Lumpur tonight.
