Saya bersetuju dengan ChengHo. Najib mesti bijak dan pemikirannya "must always be one step ahead of others". Then only he will get the respect. He must always keep a distance with those people who are seen to be "kaki bodek" trying to get "gula-gula" from him. These are the people that can destroy his integrity and credibility.

Anwar to announce ‘major surprise’ tonight, says PKR

SUNGAI PETANI: PKR has announced that a “major surprise” is in store tonight which it claims will determine the outcome of the Bukit Selambau by-election.

comment:

Begitulah pertimbangan akal manusia apabila mereka dah taksub kepada pemimpin. Kalau pemimpinnya disuruh "cebuk belakang" pun mereka sanggup.

Opposition calls for greater democratic freedom

PETALING JAYA: The Opposition wants the lifting of the three-month ban on PAS’ Harakah and PKR’s Suara Keadilan newsletters by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to lead to genuine institutional changes.

PKR information chief Tian Chua said the lifting of the ban and the release of 13 Internal Security Act detainees would mean nothing without certain laws being repealed.

He said the new Prime Minister should further show his commitment to freedom of speech by reforming the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984, the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 and “other laws that give the Government too much power to curb human rights”.

comment:

What the govt. is doing is right. Prevention is better than cure. The govt. is not curbing human rights. In fact it is safeguarding human rights by protecting the rakyat to be able to live peacefully without any disturbance to their livelihood. Freedom of speech and expression is not a passport to do whatever you like without being responsible to society where you live in.So ISA must not be repealed but it could be adjusted or amended to suit the current political and social environment. Our society is still not fully matured. Until such time when our society is fully "civilised" to a level that is at par with developed countries then only we could consider repeal the ISA. Or else NO WAY !! It will be disastrous if the govt. repeal the ISA.

Rename ISA As Anti-terrorist Act - Chew

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- Wanita MCA today proposed that the Internal Security Act (ISA) be amended and renamed anti-terrorist act to indicate its functions are strictly to curb terrorist activities and not abused on civilians.

Its chief, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, said although the act was still relevant to combat against terrorism, it should never be used flagrantly against civil liberties or civilians.

comment:

What about those extremists like the illegal Hindraf and Jemaah Islamiah groups who harp and instigate racial and religious sentiments that could result our country being in chaotic situation? Do we consider them as terrorists or civil activists? We have to draw the line clearly if we want to change the Act.

To repeal the ISA in order to allow those irresponsible people to be able to freely instigate racial and religious issues to the extent of causing instability to the country is very foolish indeed.
ISA must stay to protect the interest of the rakyat to live in peace and harmony. No two way about it. Prevention is better than cure. We must not forget the May 13 incident. It was very ugly indeed. To say that our new generation of young people are now more open minded is just pure BULLSHITT !!

13 Not Enough, Says Karpal Of Kamunting Release

PENANG, April 4 (Bernama) -- DAP chairman Karpal Singh has urged the government to release all the people held at the Kamunting Detention Centre under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

"The release of 13 ISA detainees was not enough as there were 62 detainees in Kamunting," he told reporters here today.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in his maiden address over television last night as the new prime minister, announced the immediate release of the 13 ISA detainees.

On Najib's promise to review the ISA, Karpal said there was no point to rebuild the Act which should be abolished.

comment:

Inilah Singh is King!

Dah kasi betis nak peha.

Even if there are 1000 detainees but if they are a threat to society they should remain as detainees until doomsday.

Release Of Detainees Boost For BN - Samy Vellu

SUNGAI PETANI, April 4 (Bernama) -- MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu today welcomed the release of two Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders held under the Internal Security Act (ISA), and said it would boost the chances for a Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the Bukit Selambau state by-election in Kedah.

"We are optimistic of winning," he said. The BN has fielded Datuk S. Ganesan of the MIC in the by-election, polling for which is on Tuesday.

Anwar Welcomes Release Of ISA Detainees

SUNGAI PETANI, April 3 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Friday welcomed the decision by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak to free 13 people detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

"We welcome the move but at same time, want the ISA to be abolished ," he said when speaking at a dinner gathering in Taman Ria here.

comment:

Dulu masa jadi TPM kenapa kau tak cadangkan ISA dihapuskan?

Najib Makes Surprise Visit In KL

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- Less than 24 hours after he was appointed prime minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak made a surprise visit to three areas in the federal capital to meet the people and know their problems.

Clad in casual khaki attire, Najib spent over two hours visiting Petaling Street, also known as KL's Chinatown, the predominantly-Malay area of Vista Angkasa near Kampung Kerinchi, and then Brickfields with its Indian-majority community.

Some in the crowd clapped or waved their hands at Najib, some took photographs while there were those who wasted no time to inform Najib of their problems.

"I was really surprised to see the prime minister coming out of his car here. I am also touched by his presence. I like his approach," said Mohamad Hassan, a resident.

"I want this to be an unofficial and surprise visit. I told Zulhasnan that I did not want a red-carpet welcome with 'bunga manggar'," Najib told the residents.

comment:

Well, kata orang new broom sweeps well.

Anyway, hopefully Najib would be able to gain the confidence of the rakyat with his promise to "berubah", Kalau tak rebah lah!

Dah out of date. Tidak ada makna lagi. We have to be practical. So Najib must direct all ministers and Menteri Besars to stop this ritual of welcoming leaders.

'One Malaysia' Can Nurture Unity: Gerakan

TAIPING, April 4 (Bernama) -- The 'One Malaysia. People First. Performance Now' concept is a positive one that would build and nurture unity among the various races in the country.

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said his party fully supported the concept to be the slogan of the new administration under the leadership of the sixth premier Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

comment:

Yes, you can have whatever slogans to attract rakyat attention but at the end of the day what will be the results.

We had so many slogans for the past 50 years like Hidup Malaysia, Malaysia Boleh! Cemerlang, Gemilang, Terbilang!

Tapi apa hasilnya? Mana ukuran kejayaaannya?

REMBAU, April 4 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth will not seek to have any of its representatives in the new Cabinet to be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak soon, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

"The appointment of ministers is the prerogative of the prime minister," he told reporters

comment:

Well, Dato', what does that statement indicate? I think it indicates that KJ is very much aware that he is not "eligible" to be the right candidate to represent UMNO Youth as a minister with all the controversies surrounding his personal credibility, period.

Najib Can Strengthen National Economy - Nor Mohamed

PENANG, April 4 (Bernama) -- Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop is confident that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak can turn the country's economy stronger and better placed due to his ability to think outside the ordinary.

He said the confidence came after seeing Najib's determination and ability in tackling economic problems since becoming Finance Minister several months ago.

comment:
Ya ke ? Atau nak sedapkan mulut je or nak bodek Najib.

Sebelum Najib, Pak Lah jadi Menteri Kewangan what had you contributed to solve the economic problems of our country. Don't tell me both of you were not able to think out of the ordinary !!
No wonder Pak Lah finally had to step down. It is a blessing, indeed, for Pak Lah to realise that he could not handle the economy well. All kelam kabut !!
So indirectly you are admitting that Pak Lah was hopeless when he was the Finance Minister !!

Nik Aziz Wants Closer Kelantan-Federal Ties

KOTA BAHARU, April 2 (Bernama) - Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat hopes that the state government will have closer ties with the federal government after Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak becomes Prime Minister.

comment:

Fikir-fikirkanlah Tok Guru Nik Aziz. Saya rasa apabila larut malam tentunya Tok Guru banyak solat sunat untuk mendoakan supaya kepimpinan Tok Guru diredhai Allah dan dibuka hati Tok Guru membuat sesuatu yang terbaik untuk kesejahteraan ummah.

Dr Mahathir Rejoins Umno

Najib shake hands with Tun Dr Mahathir upon the submission of application form by the former premier at the Sri Satria, Saturday. PUTRAJAYA, April 4 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today rejoined Umno after having resigned from the party almost a year ago.

The former Umno president handed his application form and the RM2 membership fee to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Sri Satria, the official residence of the deputy prime minister here, at noon.

After that, Dr Mahathir's wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, and their son Datuk Mokhzani also handed their forms and fees to Najib.

Najib expressed his thanks to Dr Mahathir for having returned to Umno to continue with the party's struggle.

"I believe Tun Dr Mahathir's return will provide a strong impetus to Umno and can help in the rejuvenation of Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN)," Najib told reporters.

He said that as a statesman, Dr Mahathir could play a meaningful role in helping to restore the people's confidence in Umno and the BN.

Najib, who is the present Umno president, also welcomed the return to Umno of Dr Siti Hasmah, saying her services to the party and the country could surely be of assistance to the role of women in the future.

Dr Mahathir had resigned from Umno on May 19 last year, saying he had lost confidence in the party which he had led for 22 years.

"Although I was out of Umno, my heart and soul were in Umno," said Dr Mahathir, adding that the criticisms he hurled at the party were with the intention to strengthen it and not destroy it.

Asked about him having rejoined Umno previously during the era of second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and rejoining now during the era of Tun Razak's son, Najib, as the sixth prime minister, Dr Mahathir said: "That family link was not something intentional." Dr Mahathir was expelled from Umno on Sept 26, 1969 during the era of first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman for having criticised the party leadership. Tun Razak had welcomed Dr Mahathir's return to Umno in 1972.

Two other children of Dr Mahathir -- Datuk Mukhriz and Datuk Mirzan -- were also present at today's function.

Asked what role he would play in the party now, Dr Mahathir said he believed that a leader should help Umno after he has retired and not isolate himself from the party after retirement.

On him taking up possible posts in Umno or the government, Dr Mahathir said positions were unnecessary and added that he was prepared to give his views if necessary.

Asked about the impact of Dr Mahathir's return to Umno on the by-elections in Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau, Najib said he believed it would have a positive effect which would be well received by Umno members.

Najib said this was evident at the Umno general assembly last week when party delegates gave a resounding welcome when Dr Mahathir made a surprise entry at the gathering.

Dr Mahathir said the biggest challenge for Umno now was to revive the image of the party which had taken a beating in the last few years.

Asked whether he would continue to be vocal during Najib's administration just as he had been during former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration, Dr Mahathir said: "I was critical whenever Umno went wrong."

At the handing over of the Umno application forms, Mokhzani had forgotten to attach the RM2 membership fee.

When asked by Najib, Mokhzani found he had no small change and Mukhriz came up with the money, causing Dr Mahathir to remark "This is money politics", which left everyone present in stitches.

- Agensi Husin Lempoyang

Najib Can Take Country To Greater Heights: NCCIM

JOHOR BAHARU, April 4 (Bernama) -- The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM) has welcomed the appointment of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the sixth prime minister of the country.

The chamber is confident that Najib would be able to discharge his duties which were especially challenging given the global economic situation now.

comment:

Yes, agreed. But he must get the best quality of ministers in his cabinet to help him discharge his duties with full confidence. If he chooses haprak and HP6 ministers with questionable credibility and integrity then he will be in trouble to steer the country forward to greater height. Make no mistake about it. He must get the best pool of technocrats to be his advisors not the one that Pak Lah had in the 4th floor. Those 4th floor "dungus" must be discarded immediately.

amirhamzah64/ 64أمير حمزه said...

Selama UMNO/BN memerintah perpaduan rakyat aman sejahtera dan sejurus Mahathir menjadi PM kegelisahan rakyat ketara meruncing kerana "divide and rule" polisinya.Walaupun banyak pembangunan mega diujudkan ketika pemerintahan Mahathir namun moral kebanyakan rakyat keutamaan orang Mealayu rendah disebabkan budaya yang kurang sihat disemai dikalangan ahli UMNO/BN.AAB mewarisi apa yang ditinggalkan Mahathir dan pengunduran AAB,citak "module" yang sama diwarasi pula olih Najib.Kesudahanya, jika pattern ini tidak berubah maka Najib berpeluang menerajui kerajaan hanya setakat 4 tahun aje lagi kerana selepas itu UMNO/BN terkubur.Kalau Najib bijak jauhkan diri dari Mahathir keran dia tu racun.
